The Zebra Sarasa is filled with vibrant, water-based gel ink that resists feathering and dries quickly. It’s a great gel pen for left-handed writers who worry about smearing. Most Sarasa inks are also water resistant, so an accidental spill won’t ruin your notes.

Additionally, some pens like the Sarasa Dry or Dry X20 feature inks that dry in less than a second on most papers.

The dry time and water test in the image above were created with the Zebra Sarasa Clip on the 80 gsm Rhodia DotPad. Inks tend to take longer to dry on Rhodia than on more absorbent papers like printer paper. For the water test, we allowed the writing sample to dry for fifteen minutes before soaking it in water.

Clip Design
Most Zebra Sarasa pens have handy spring-loaded clips.

Almost all Zebra Sarasa pens have unique clips unlike other gel pens. The sturdy binder or “push” clip is spring loaded and works like a lever. Pressing on the side closest to the push button lifts the end of the clip so you can slip it over a surface. The clip can easily attach to thick notebook covers or pants pockets without breaking.

The Dry X20 Gel Pen has a regular clip and not a binder clip.

Form Factor

Every Zebra Sarasa features a retractable tip. Almost all of the gel pens have rubber grips, too. The Sarasa is also available as multi pens, some of which include mechanical pencil components.

Sarasa Gel Pens are available in tip sizes from 0.3 mm to 1.0 mm. As with all other gel pens, smaller tip sizes have more feedback, which is a rough sensation that you can feel as the pen tip moves across the writing surface. However, in general, Sarasa Gel Pens write smoothly and don’t feel scratchy at all.

Sarasa Multi Pens come in three tip sizes, and some include 0.5 mm mechanical pencil components.
